Holding Fast to Our Hope

March 1, 2026 Speaker: Daniel McChesney Series: Hebrews | The Supremacy of Jesus

Topic: Jesus Scripture: Hebrews 6:13–20

Study Questions:

  1. In Hebrews 6:11–12, the writer connects perseverance with “full assurance of hope.” How are assurance, hope, and perseverance connected in this passage? How have doubt, hardship, or disappointment affected your spiritual endurance
  2. Verse 13 says God “swore by Himself.” Why is that culturally and theologically significant? How does God’s oath and unchanging purpose strengthen your confidence in His promises? In what ways is God’s faithfulness different from human promises?
  3. Abraham obeyed without knowing the outcome (Gen. 12Heb. 6:15). What stands out about Abraham’s trust in God without knowing the outcome? Where is God calling you to trust Him without seeing the full picture?
  4. Verse 19 calls our hope “a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.” What does that metaphor communicate about the Christian life? What does it mean for your hope in Christ to be “a sure and steadfast anchor”? What kinds of “storms” threaten your faith, and how does God’s truth steady you?
  5. Verse 20 says Jesus has gone before us as a “forerunner.” What does that mean for our present confidence? How does knowing that Jesus has gone before you and represents you in heaven shape your daily life? The sermon ended with this idea: “Secure people are dangerous for the kingdom of God.” If your future in Christ is secure, how should that change the way you live, take risks, and serve God’s kingdom?
