Southbrook’s Vision for the next 10 years

When I came to Southbrook over twelve years ago, we established our mission: To glorify God by making disciples who make a big deal of Jesus where we live, learn, work, and play. That mission hasn’t changed—and it won’t change. We’re committed to what Jesus has commanded. (Matthew 28:18-20)

A disciple is someone who follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and influences others for Jesus (Mark 1:16–18). That’s not passive Christianity. That’s not sitting on the sidelines. That’s a life fully surrendered and fully engaged in what God is doing.

As we’ve sought the Lord together, He has given us a clear vision for the next ten years:

Every man, woman, and child within our reach hears the gospel and has the opportunity to respond.

That vision drives everything: it shapes how we preach, it shapes how we disciple, it shapes how we send. We believe the Gospel moves forward through multiplication—not maintenance. Through disciples who make disciples, leaders who raise up leaders, and churches that plant churches.

Over the next decade, we are committing to Multiplication: Multiplying Disciples | Multiplying Leaders | Multiplying Churches. We will strengthen our discipleship pathways. We will develop leaders at every level. We will launch a Training Center to equip believers to grow deeper in their faith. And we will plant five new churches, sending people into new communities to make a big deal of Jesus.

This is a bold vision. It’s bigger than us. And it’s exactly the kind of vision that forces us to depend on God.

Introducing Reach

As we look ahead, we recognize an important point: to maximize our Gospel impact, we need to increase our current capacity.

That’s why we are launching a seven-month generosity initiative called Reach.

The goal of Reach is clear and faith-filled: To trust God to fully pay off our remaining mortgage debt through the generosity of His people here at Southbrook.

This isn’t about buildings, it’s about freedom. It’s about removing financial weight so we can move faster and further in our mission. It’s about unlocking resources that can go directly toward multiplying disciples, leaders, and churches for years to come.

Imagine what could happen if every dollar currently allocated to debt were redirected to reach people with the gospel.

Reach is an opportunity for all of us to step forward in faith. Over the next seven months, we will ask each person and family to consider how God is leading them to give—sacrificially, joyfully, and obediently. This will require all of us. Not equal gifts—but equal sacrifice. Not pressure—but faith. Not obligation—but worship.

Jesus is building His church. We simply get to be part of what He’s doing. And I believe with all my heart that as we step forward in obedience, God will do more than we could ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)

Let’s Reach together—for His glory, for the next generation, and for every man, woman, and child who still needs to hear the Gospel and have an opportunity to respond.

What are the 3 priorities of this initiative?

Priority One: Fully Fund Day-to-Day Ministry (Continue the existing ministry of Southbrook Church.) $1,700,000

Priority Two: Eliminate Debt (Create additional ministry capacity by eliminating our remaining mortgage debt.) $300,000

Priority Three: Kingdom Multiplication (greater Kingdom investment globally and locally.) $400,000

Total seven-month goal: $2,400,000

What will I be asked to do?

Continue to grow as a disciple by taking your next step in generosity!

Each of us will be asked to prayerfully consider our financial stewardship and our commitment to invest a portion of what God has given us in His kingdom over the 7-month period of the initiative. For some, this commitment may involve giving for the first time. For others, it may involve beginning to give consistently for the first time. For others, it may involve beginning to give sacrificially for the first time. For all of us, it will involve stepping out in faith and responding in obedience to what God calls us to do. It may feel uncomfortable at times, but what a privilege we have to participate in what God is doing! And remember, we won’t be alone, and we won’t regret playing a part in reaching every man, woman, and child with the gospel and giving them an opportunity to respond!
