White Oak of Waxhaw is a 100-bed skilled nursing center located in Waxhaw. They provide long-term nursing care and short-term rehabilitation in their designated rehabilitation wing. For several reasons, most of these residents cannot leave the facility for personal activities, including attending church services. As a result, Southbrook is currently going to them and providing an on-site chapel service twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays.

Volunteer Needs: This is a greatly appreciated ministry to nursing home residents who feel lonely and forgotten – and sometimes their families and White Oak staff, too! Providing this worship service takes a team of at least 5 or 6 adults who help residents to/from their rooms, distribute/collect songbooks, lead singing (hymns), accompany singing with piano or guitar, and deliver a 20-minute Bible message. Having children there is also a significant highlight and encouragement for the residents.
